Matchbox Friday the 13th Character Car
Definitely an oddball, this Cherokee is usually not counted in the 168 casting grouping due to it’s inclusion instead in the “Character Cars” series. It has modifications to support the character despite clearly being the same casting as a 168 with minor changes. I do like this model as it’s one not often seen, but I do wish the Jason figurine came off.
Description
Matchbox has produced “Character Cars” for many years and in 2000 they released a set that included Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees on top of a Jeep Cherokee. I honestly am really confused by this selection since the Friday the 13th series began well before the Cherokee was on the market, and I’m not sure they even featured a Cherokee in any of the movies. Regardless it’s a cool looking Cherokee and I almost wish the character was removable. I have seen photos of a preproduction model which lacked the character!
