Matchbox National Ski Patrol
The National Ski Patrol Cherokee is one of the few Matchbox Cherokees with tamps on the roof, and maybe the only one where the tampos cover the entire roof area. With a clever Ski track design this definitely brings to mind the Olympics and winter sports.
Description
Another early release from Matchbox the National Ski Patrol is a great 168 model with a white body and fun graphics. It’s by no means a rare model, but harder to find in original packaging or in mint condition. Done in red and blue tampos on a white base it definitely makes an effort to standout as a patriotic “American” vehicle.
TAMPOS:
- Shield shaped logo on doors.
- Blue background at top with “OFFICIAL VEHICLE” in white text
- Blue lower left side with “NATIONAL SKI PATROL” in white text next to a yellow square cross
- Two sweeping red lines on right side, reminiscent of ski tracks
- “NATIONAL SKI PATROL” in blue text on rear quarter panels
- Three stripes that begin on hood and proceed across roof
- Wider blue stripe, which begins angled on left side of the hood and proceeds straight back
- Two narrow red stripes to right of wider blue stripe which begin angled on hood.
